Extremely overpriced service and poor communication. After hearing great things about Scott Baird Automotive from family and friends, I was extremely disappointed with the two car Services I received this year. For the first service (my partners car), I asked that if there were any issues with the car, these would be quoted before they proceeded with remedying them. I was contacted later by Scott who said there were issues, and made it seem like he had already remedied them but did not discuss any pricing or cost of this, so I assumed they were minor. When I arrived to pick up my car, I was charged far more than what was inferred as the 'genuine' parts ordered were purchased directly from the manufacturer. Apparently this brief phone call was confirmation of my agreement to proceed with remedying these significant issues, when it was vague and communicated poorly. I decided to give Scott Baird Automotive a second chance for my car given the good things I had heard about them (big mistake). On this occassion I only received a standard car service (Oil and Filter Change + minor works and ensuring car was up to spec) and was charged $250 labour for 2 hours work, $400 all up. Furthermore, they will only install 'genuine' parts that are ordered directly from the manufacturer (in my case Honda) who charge excessive rates for their parts, so you're better off going straight to your car manufacturer for your service if you are going to pay a premium anyway. Only reason for 2 stars is for the work they carried out was up to a high standard and Scott came across as genuine, but their labour and service costs are extremely overpriced and poor value for money.

There are two sides to every story....... Darien's mother recommended her son to come to us, she is more than happy with our services. His mother said she was very embarrassed when we told her that Darien was upset about his account, she said he is young and not experienced with the maintenance & repair bills on vehicles. Darien was communicated with, he asked for a Full Service and to address the running rough issue. Darien was told of the repair, he wanted to source his own parts and this we don't allow due to certain branded products being used at our workshop for quality purposes. Darien was upset that the part we used was more expensive than the one he could have sourced, we explained the brand he wanted to use was one we would not use in our workshop anyway and hence why the price difference. Two months later a second vehicle of his was booked in for a Full Service, while vehicle was being serviced a few issues were also diagnosed. A phone call was made to Darien explaining the issues, he rung back instructing us to just carry out the Service and note the issues on Invoice. A month passed when Darien emailed us, this email saying that he had purchased the equivalent parts that was noted on the Invoice. His email then said that he considered our charges to be pricey for the last service and was hoping we would be able to install these parts for free of charge. Not quite sure what earth Darien is on? Good luck with him finding a good, honest mechanic that HE can tell how much they should be charging him. Or even better....maybe Darien should work on his own vehicle if it's all that simple in his eyes.
